So I went to my first ever high school reunion on Saturday, November 27. It was an interesting event, more or less, which I wouldn’t have attended has not my wife and I graduated together, and she insisted that we go. Frankly I found it disturbing to discover not how many names I’d forgotten, but even once reminded of the name, I didn’t always remember having gone to school with the individual. I seemed to remember more of the people who also attended my grade school as well as my high school. To me, that doesn’t say good things about whether or not I really am reliving my childhood or not.
Free $10 worth of credit for Pennswoods.net Classifieds if you can tell me what year I graduated from high school. $100 if you can tell me the year and the mascot of the high school. Hint: This was not a 5 year reunion.
In completely unrelated news, today is also the Romanian equivalent of Independence Day, more or less. In 1918 the National Assembly of Romanians of Transylvania and Hungary convened in Alba Iulia (which is in Transylvania) and decreed “the unification of those Romanians and of all the territories inhabited by them with Romania.” They have a unification museum right there in Alba Iulia, celebrating Great Union Day.
So, every time you meet a romanian today, wish them “La multi ani” (Happy Birthday). I imagine that it sounds better in Romanian than “Happy 1st!”.
Thanks,
Chris
