Happy Mother’s Day!
I hope everyone is enjoying the day. I remember with fondness my days of working in Harrigan’s at the Holiday Inn in Indiana. Mother’s Day was one of the biggest events of the year for us. Man am I glad I don’t work in food service anymore. I still have dreams about that place. Sam Kenly, if you are out there reading, it is NOT funny to hand a waiter 2 twenty tops within 5 minuets of one another!
Speaking of Indiana, I was there the other day, stuck in traffic right in front of the parking lot of Uncle Sudsy’s. As you might imagine, Uncle Sudsy’s sells six packs. (Say that 5 times fast.) Also like you might imagine for a six pack shop embedded practically in the heart of a college campus, they sold over priced six packs. Unlike you might imagine, they tended to be rather hostile to college students. To young people in general, actually. I suspect they just got tired of a constant stream of fake driver’s licenses.
Anyway, I was positioned perfectly to turn into the parking lot, which I did. It was either that or sit there and get grumpier about the traffic. Turns out that May 7 was their last day in business, and everything was 30% off. Even at a 30% discount the beer was still over priced. However they had two examples of barley wine (which may or may not be the same thing as an “old ale”) and so I did in fact walk out with beer. I haven’t gotten around to trying either one, but if anyone is interested, I’ll post here when I do get to try it.
Hope everyone has a great Mother’s Day. Happy Mother’s Day, mom!
Thanks,
Chris
