Merry Christmas to everyone!

I hope that you are having a wonderful Christmas season, and that it brings you many good memories.

There are a couple of things I’d like to share with you. Recently we as a nation experienced a great tragedy, in the form of the school shooting in Connecticut. I hope that you’ve joined in prayer for the family and friends in the community.

Unfortunately some of the most rabid rights grabbing politicians have jumped on board to push their gun grabbing agendas. Their idea is to take the means of defense from law abiding citizens. The real solution, as implemented in many schools, is to replace the soft-target appearance with armed guards.

Ask Joel Myrick, principal of Pearl High School in Pearl, Mississippi. Like the Connecticut shooting, it involved a gunman who first killed his mother. Unlike the principal in Sandy Hook, CT who died when confronting the gunman, Myrick had retrieved his handgun from his truck. Mynick not only stopped the shooting cold, he likely also saved the life of the student doing the shooting.

The reason I bring this up, is that AR style rifles have disappeared off the shelves of gun stores. I was in and out of several gun stores this week while I was purchasing a pistol. I watched the shelves go empty. The market for a used AR is now very much a sellers market, and the prices have sky rocketed.

A kel-tec sub 2000 that I bought 6 months ago now sells for literally three times as much on gunbroker. This isn’t a scam, it is just what the market bears. If you want a rifle from someone who wasn’t really planning on selling it, you need to offer a price to convince him to sell.

Rather than mis-reporting ads, and possibly forcing me to close accounts that are abusing the reporting system, call your law makers. Let them know that their job is to act responsibly, protecting our rights.

A short call expressing the concerns we have over our rights does a lot more good than being upset during Christmas. A gentle reminder that the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban sent a lot of congressmen and senators into premature retirement is well in order. After all, there is little a politician understands better than the threat of being unceremoniously replaced.
