I’ve received a number of complaints regarding images uploaded from cell phones not being oriented correctly. I knew that the problem was that cell phones often tagged the image with orientation data according to how the phone was held during the photograph, but I didn’t have a good way to address the issue.

Today I’ve included a code change to the website that will attempt to detect the orientation of the image, and automatically change it so that it is upright.

Feedback is welcomed. If you’ve run into this problem before, and it is better or worse, please let me know. If you find a picture turned sideways or upside down in the future, please let me know.
